1998 ESCAP HRD Award Conferred Upon Non-Formal Education Department, Thailand
The Non-Formal Education Department of Thailand has been proclaimed the winner of the 1998 ESCAP HRD Award. An independent Jury established the winner on 24 February, highlighting the important role of Government in mainstreaming non-formal adult education programmes in socio-economic development. The 1998 Award, which carries a prize of US$ 30,000, had received over 100 applications. Three runners-up were selected...

UNESCO-ACEID Conference

Youth: Comprehensive Regional Action Plan Adopted
In preparation for the first ever global ministerial conference on youth, two major meetings for the Asian and Pacific region were held in Bangkok in May and June. For the first time, a comprehensive regional action plan was adopted.
